We have a number of free activities and sessions on offer during the afternoon.  During the booking and checkout process, you have the option to give an optional donation, which would be really appreciated and will help us fund future sessions and events. 

Please note:

*All children must be accompanied by an adult

* Please ONLY book a ticket for your child. All accompanying adults do not need to book a ticket for themselves

*Event photography will be taking place on the day – please notify us at the start of the session if your child is NOT allowed photographs taken and you do not wish for your child’s photo to be used for marketing purposes/ on social media.

BEACH CLEAN: 12pm - 1pm

Meeting point: Charlie’s Beach School Sideshore EX8 2GD

Open to all ages!

Bring your gloves and we will provide the pickers! 

Come along and join us in our quest to keep our local environment and the home of Charlie’s Beach School clean and litter free. Our beach clean session, is an hour-long family session which will look at 

1) how to collect rubbish safely from the beach

2) the types of rubbish and plastic that can be found on the beach

3) how to sort the rubbish that you collect so that it can be reused, repurposed or recycled

SAND CASTLE COMPETITION: 1pm – 1:45pm

Open to all ages!

We would love to meet as many of you as possible during the launch of Charlie’s Beach School, so why not get your creativity flowing and join together with family and friends to enter our beach school sand art competition. There are only 2 rules for this competition:

1)    Your entry must be beach/sea themed

2)    Have FUN!

Prizes will be awarded on the day for creativity, difficulty rating and team work – one prize will be awarded per winning category (3 prizes in total).

ROCK POOL RAMBLE: 2.15pm - 3.30pm

Suitable for age 5+ with adult support

Our rockpool ramble, is a guided session which aims to give you and your child a glimpse into the mysteriously fascinating marine environment – the rockpool. During the session, we will discuss how to keep ourselves and the creatures we find safe by following the seashore code, search and discover extraordinary wildlife, share facts and information and play a game of rockpool bingo! 

You will need:

•    Sensible grippy footwear – the rocks can be slippery

•    Old clothing (clothes may get wet/ dirty)

•    Waterproof trousers - these great for adding extra comfort when kneeling on slippery/ wet rocks and surfaces - optional

•    Warm clothing/ waterproof jacket – (weather dependent) - it can get cold even when the sun is shining!

•    All other equipment will be provided

Please note ~ In the event of a sewage alert, this session maybe to be cancelled to ensure your child’s safety. Should this be the case we will post an update on our Facebook page in the morning of Saturday 21st September.

FUNKY FISH WATERCOLOUR SESSION: 2.30pm - 3.15pm

Suitable for age 8-12

Come and join us for a ‘fish finger’ themed watercolour painting session with the wonderful Sophie Coleman. Sophie will guide your child through the session teaching them about a variety of watercolour techniques and help them to create their very own master piece!

BEACH CRAFT SESSION: 3.15pm - 4pm

Suitable for age 7-11

During this session we are going to get crafting crazy and create a ‘pegtastic’, fun and fabulous beach themed creation for your child to take home. All materials for the session will be provided.

Get ready for waves of fun with this exciting sea-themed parachute games session! 

Designed for children to enjoy an imaginative and active experience by the "shoreline," these games which encourages teamwork, coordination, and creativity. With a brightly coloured parachute as our ocean, children will engage in various activities es inspired by the sea.
